What are good hair colors for fall?
Fall color tends to lean warm and rich. These four looks, from our own gallery of work, show the range: copper, burgundy, caramel and deep brown with a copper glow.

- Warm copper. Bright, warm and easy to spot in autumn light. Ask your colorist about single-process color from roots to ends (from $155), or about highlights (from $150) for golden dimension.
- Rich burgundy. A deep red with a little drama. Ask about color root to ends, and about a toner, glaze or color balance (toner from $55) to fine-tune the shade.
- Caramel. A soft, warm brown that reads as dimensional. Ask about balayage ($350 to $650, by length, deposit required) or highlights for a graduated, natural-looking effect.
- Copper-brown. A deeper brown with a copper glow, lovely with curls and waves. Ask about color root to ends, with your colorist matching the depth to your hair.
How do I choose a fall color that suits me?
Start with a conversation. Your colorist looks at your hair history, your current color and the look you want, then recommends the service and shade that fit. Bring a few photos of color you love, and one you do not, to make the plan clearer. If you are not sure whether to go for balayage or highlights, read our comparison.
How do I keep my color fresh as the season goes on?
- Root touch-up from $110 covers your regrowth.
- Color stretch from $30 is a quick application of up to 1 inch at the hairline and part, booked within 4 weeks of your last color service. You rinse at home, and only one is allowed between regular color services.
- A smoothing treatment after color. Keratin Complex smoothing is a great option directly after coloring, because the color is sealed in. See our smoothing comparison.
- Not happy with your color? Color correction is planned around your hair, and starts with a consultation and deposit.
